Campylobacter - an Irish perspective: RELAY WORKSHOP

CHRO 2007 Workshop

The 14th International Workshop on Campylobacter, Helicobacter and Related Organisms (CHRO) took place in

International Conference and Workshop 2005

An international conference titled ‘Campylobacter Surveillance and Research in Ireland – The Way Ahead?’ was organized by this project and hosted by The Conway Institute of Biomolecular and Biomedical Research, University College Dublin on Thursday 30th June 2005. A follow on workshop was held in the SAS Radisson Hotel, St. Helens, Stillorgan, Dublin 4 on Friday 1st July 2005. The speakers included Professor Sarah O’Brien (University of Manchester) who gave the keynote address titled ‘The epidemiology of human Campylobacter infection – what next’, Mr. Ian Gillespie (HPA) who spoke about ‘The Campylobacter Sentinel Surveillance Scheme’, Dr. Mike Baker (Wellington School of Medicine and Health Sciences, New Zealand) who presented ‘Campylobacteriosis: A view from ‘down under’, Dr. Frieda Jorgensen (University of Bristol) who discussed ‘Biosecurity and ecological aspects of Campylobacter’, Dr. John Moore (NI PHl) on ‘Campylobacteriosis in humans’ and Dr. Fred Angulo (CDC) on ‘Food based epidemiology’.
